connecting a container to a bridge network and the host network
Hi, is it possible to connect a container to a bridge network and also to the host network? I would like for my container to have full access to the hosts network interfaces but still have an IP in the normal bridge network so that other containers can communicate with it normally. thanks, Hendrik

https://github.com/containernetworking/plugins/tree/master/plugins/main/host... is interesting. It results in moving the interface into the container. It's not quite what I wanted but might be good enough for the actually thing I want to do. On 7/17/20 4:11 PM, Phil Thiele wrote:

Hi Hendrik, Nice to know that it helped a little bit to solve your problem. As far as I know podman communicates with CNI to create/edit/delete container network interfaces and the networking itself. A few weeks ago I played a little bit with IPv6 so I used it e.g. for assigning a IPv6 pool as well as to add some static routes.

Maybe it's a long-shot, but perhaps you could use the dummy device kernel module (it can receive an independent IP address). Bind that to the bridge and move it into the container. It's been a while, but I seem to remember a mechanism similar to this is/was used for qemu virtualization. -- Chris Evich, RHCA III Senior Quality Assurance Engineer If it ain't broke, yain't tryin' hard nough.
