This is indeed a good place to put a question like yours, thanks for sending it! Unfortunately most of the folks who would be able to answer your question fully are either on PTO or attending a conference this week.  From the brief look at the issue below, I believe 'rootless' Podman will handle what you're looking for.  I'd say give it a try and see what you think!  Install Podman on your machine and then check out the rootless tutorial on GitHub (https://github.com/containers/libpod/blob/master/docs/tutorials/rootless_tut...).  If you still have questions after diving in there, please feel free to reply to this thread, especially early next week after other folks return from their travels. I plan on moving everything to podman if I can get a clarification about permissions. Since I created that issue I found out that other problems from Docker are already solved by your project. The 1.5.0v release notes talk about squashing IDs so maybe I haven't misunderstood how rootless works that badly.
