can you please share the source of podman-docker?
This would allow me to build a package on Debian.

podman-docker is a subpackage of podman.

The Podman Makefile as a directive install.docker which will install the correct files.

make install.docker 

I think this would be better as a subpackage of the podman package in Debian.

The podman-docker package exists on Fedora, CentOS and RHEL but not on other distributions.  If you want it in Debian, I suggest reaching out to the Debian folks.

If you have a tool talking to a Docker socket, you can point it to the Podman socket instead.  Many tools use the DOCKER_HOST environment variable to point to a socket, which may be an option in your use case.
